Retrofit Assessments

One of the best ways to improve the energy efficiency of an existing home is to hire a retrofit assessor to assess the property and produce a report for a retrofit coordinator.

From there you can make decisions on what you can do to make your energy usage more efficient such as replacing a boiler or installing photovoltaic panels (PV).

The assessment usually takes a couple of hours and will be carried out by a fully accredited Retrofit Assessor who will assess the scope and risk of any action to be taken with your property.

Your current energy usage will be reported, which is not a reflection of the EPC, but an actual reflection of the property’s energy usage. This is much more accurate and will give a better outline for future actions.

The condition of the property and quality of workmanship will also be considered as actions to be undertaken may include improvements to installed elements, such as windows and doors.

Occupancy and usage also are considered so that any recommendations that are made should be most suitable for the individual case under assessment. For instance, if very little electricity is used in a property, it may not be a suitable action to install PV.
