EPCs - Energy Performance Certificates

Commercial Properties
From July 2008 EPCs are required for the construction, sale or rent of commercial buildings with a floor area over 2,500 m2.
From October 2008 EPCs are required on the construction, sale or rent of all remaining commercial buildings.
Domestic Properties
From December 2007 all domestic properties being marketed or sold need to have an EPC as part of the Home Information Pack (HIP). The EPC is a legal document and is required as part of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
From October 2008 all domestic properties being rented will require an EPC at change of tenant. This includes both private and housing association rented properties.
EPCs can only be produced by qualified and accredited assessors.
